Rob's Success Story
Tuesday, March 1, 2022
A veteran, Rob didn't know where to take his career and had no money to find out. He did Sabio's deferred payment program: pay no tuition until you get a job with a decent salary. Barely knowing how to use a computer before going to Sabio, he got a great paying remote job right after graduating salary and "doesn't worry about money anymore, ever." This story could be yours and you don't have to put any money down to make it happen.

I never thought I would live in a place like this. I also make two times as much as I’ve made in my entire life, because of Sabio.
My names Rob and I’m from Twin Peaks, CA. I’m a veteran. I served four years in the military. Right after I got out, I went into the forest service and immediately jumped into college because I, was only really qualified for hard laborious jobs and I’d be away from my family a lot.
At the end of college, I still didn’t know what I wanted to do. By luck, I was able to connect with one of my professors. He actually, told me about coding bootcamps.
I had never heard about a coding bootcamp before. I didn’t even think that I was smart enough to code, I mean it just sounds like a lot of math. He was like, “No, no, no, no, it’s not like that. These coding bootcamps, they actually teach you everything you need to know.”
I started the PreWork on Sabio. I really enjoyed the feeling that I got when I solved a problem. I ended up taking the assessment. I was shocked when I passed.
What sold me on the program was the fact that they have a deferred payment program. You don’t have to pay until you get a job. In my mind I was like, you gotta be a really good program in order to take that amount of risk on a person that has no experience in coding. You gotta be really confident to do that.
When I went to Sabio, I did it fully remote. Learning remotely was really no different than being in the classroom. The instructors, they were extremely knowledgeable. They have immense patience and gave me the one-on-one time I needed to ask a ton of questions, get them all answered.
Sabio has a really great job interview section at the end of the program. They help you out with dealing with the recruiters which was particularly helpful for me because I’ve never talked to a recruiter before in my entire life …except for the army. (laughs)
I’m currently an application developer at Orthletihcs (?) incorporated. Sabio prepared me for the job because I was just able to jump right in. I got super comfortable with speaking to people over zoom. I also am super comfortable with stand-up now. I got to work on a real world project, for another health care company actually.
My life’s changed because of Sabio. I live in an amazing place now that I never thought I would live in a place like this. I mean I have a forest in my backyard. I also make two times as much as I’ve made in my entire life. I don’t worry about money anymore, ever. I used to not see my son a whole lot because I worked a crazy amount of hours. Now I’m actually able to spend a lot of time with him, and I also have the money to go and do things.
I love Sabio so much that I actually recommended my girlfriend to it. She started attending the program because she’s been a barista for five years and she’s just sick and tired of making tips.
The advice I would give to people who are interested in learning to code is to start with the PreWork. Jump into it, play with it. After you’re comfortable with the PreWork, take the assessment and just jump into it. They have all different types of payment programs. Really, money’s not an excuse because they have a deferred payment program.
You should go to Sabio because they care about you after you graduate. I looked at other coding bootcamps and there’s no, “after you graduate,” that’s it. It’s a done deal. At Sabio, they post all these different job opportunities. All the alumni post all of their different job opportunities. Networking, and also opportunities for big companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Google. They have connection to all of these.
And, it’s very important for a system like this to be in our society, because it’s super hard to make the money I’m making right now. I would seriously have to be at a company for well over 10 years to make the money I’m making right now. I’ve been there for months. This program really catapults people in a positive direction.
During our Info Sessions you will learn all about our program, and also get to speak with Sabio team members. In addition, every week you get to hear directly from recent grads that are now thriving in tech.
