Brijesh Patel

Instructor, Irvine

Overview

"I have done essentially every job you can think of. From life insurance salesmen to hotel manager, I have tried my hand at anything sales related. However, after obtaining my MBA I realized that I did not have any real passion for any of my past roles. I have always been interested in the tech field, but felt it was too late to get my foot into the door. That is when I heard about Sabio."

What’s your teaching style?

A lot of coding material out there presents with you information on why a certain methodology is good, or what the best implementation of a language is and so on, but Sabio's mission is to TEACH you how to do those things. The teaching style I hope to have is a hands on approach, but one that allows for students to make mistakes and grow. A major part about coding is to understand what did not work to understand what will. I hope to give my students the fearlessness to try new things so they can be proud of their accomplishments the same way they would learn from their mistakes.

What got you into teaching?

I am one of the rare instructors who has had the privilege of going through Sabio and experiencing the knowledge given by instructors firsthand. As an instructor it is my hope to reciprocate all that I have learned onto the new cohorts looking to find their way as developers.

I have always been interested in the tech field, but felt it was too late to get my foot into the door. That is when I heard about Sabio. After going to the info session and working on an accelerated PreWork schedule, I found myself excited to go to class each day to learn something new.

Career

After getting his M.B.A. in 2011 at the University of La Verne, Brijesh set out on a journey of epic proportions. Working in careers as a financial advisor, hotel manager, and salesman, nothing quite felt right. There was always a burn for technology in his heart, which lead him to Sabio in 2015.

At Sabio he learned ASP.NET, C#, T-SQL, Javascript, JQuery & AngularJs, quickly catapulting him into a junior development position at Advantage Solutions in Irvine, CA, Dec 2015. There he developed a variety of internal applications including Itinerary Manager, WorkWith & Admin. His work there garnished him many accolades, increasing his role from junior developer to supervisor of the integration of much of the companies applications in 2016.

While working at his job, Brijesh also taught PreWork at Sabio starting in 2016. There he listened to students feedback for years, honing in a unique teaching style, encouraging students to learn from their mistakes as well as their accomplishments. In 2019, he joined Sabio full-time as a fullstack instructor bringing his real-world experience and knowledge of languages including C#, Agile, ASP, .NET, T-SQL, Javascript, HTML, jQuery & Angular.js.
