“Technology is a highway, that connects business solutions to the people”
A tech veteran, Trung has always had a love for teaching. “My favorite things about programming are the core concepts of how software is built. I’ve been interested ever since the 90s going through high school, the first time going on the internet was the great thing that ever happened to me. That’s how I got into coding.”
Trung took the traditional route of a four year university, but found it trained you to be more of a researcher, “When I got out of college, I had this great theory, but in terms of applying it to the real world, I had zero experience. I wish that Sabio was available at that time.”
I’m most excited about making a difference in these students lives. Because each cohort comes from different backgrounds but the end goal is the same and I get to be part of guiding them to that end goal.
Every cohort is going to be different, I look forward to not just teaching, but learning and adapting to each unique cohort as it comes
The most important thing for every programmer is we have to have this thirst for knowledge because technology is constantly changing. What we know today is not going to be relevant tomorrow. So it’s part of the skill set to be able to learn new things. I hope the students pick that up from me and my experience from being in the industry for so long.
Trung has spent his life coding, but has always felt an urge to teach. The two finally met eye-to-eye when he joined Sabio as a PreWork instructor in 2018. To Trung, it was a perfect fit, his love of all things tech and molding the minds of future software engineers. After a few months, the leader developer and instructor in Orange County, Victor Campos asked him if he would consider teaching with Sabio full time.
I was immediately sold. Sabio provides such a great culture to each and every individual. My enthusiasm on the prospect of joining the team was solidified in teaching PreWork. There I saw the real impact I can make for every individual that comes to Sabio to learn how to code.
Trung has spent the majority of his life being fascinated with computers, starting with his Windows 95 processor in high school where on dial-up he watched his first episode of South Park.
Taking a more traditional route, Trung went to the University of Utah and studied finance with a minor in philosophy & psychology. After a couple of years and the reality of our post-college world, Trung knew this was not for him and needed a change.
He and his wife moved back to California where Trung studied Computer Science at Cal Poly of Pomona. After graduating, he began work as a backend Engineer, writing Java Code for a stock trading company which handled the execution and trading of stock & equities using the FIX protocol.
His next adventure took him to a startup Telecommunication company, from there he went on to writing the backend API that supports an IOS App for the food truck industry.
From there Trung moved onto Corporate IT Solutions where he designed and developed an internal web app for the internal users everyday tasks and job management.
